Learning Outcomes are any measurable skills, abilities, knowledge or values that the student demonstrates as a result of completing a given course or class.
An appealing learning outcome has three sections. It answers three main questions about the learning experience.
- Knowledge – Learning facts and concepts
- Skills – Learning how to do something
- Attitude – Learning to form a new or different viewpoint or belief.
Knowledge: knowledge can be defined as the ability to acquire information. This is why it’s so important to have a good understanding of your own knowledge.
The more you know about yourself, the better equipped you will be to make informed decisions. Similarly, the more you know about others, the better prepared you’ll be for life. Knowledge is the cognitive process that helps us think critically about ourselves and others. It’s also the process that allows us to develop new ideas and perspectives. It’s the process that will enable us to understand what makes people tick and how they feel.
Skills: In simple words, skills help you become better at something, such as cooking or baking or making a cake. These skills are acquired through experience. They may be learned from your parents, teachers, or friends. They may also be acquired through formal education. When you learn new things, it is essential to keep them up to date with the latest trends and technologies.
Attitude: Attitude is how an individual thinks about his or her behaviour. It is how he or she perceives himself, others, and their actions. A person’s attitude is shaped by his or her environment. When people are happy, they tend to behave positively. When people are unhappy, they tend to act in negative ways.
As far as KSAs are concerned, attitude is the most challenging part as it is challenging to change one’s attitude in any given situation. Moreover, it is difficult to measure one’s attitude in any given case. Also, it is difficult to measure the amount of change in attitude as a result of education or training. This is why we need to know how much our beliefs affect our behaviour and how much we can change them.
